I don't like to draw attention to American politics, because it makes thinking distasteful to me. But here's a real good example of how stupid politics can get in America. Robert Greenwald makes a movie Iraq for Sale about how military consultants rob everyone blind, gets called to testify before a (Democratic) congress and wants to show this little five-minute segment of his movie. The Republicans don't let him show the clip (how? because the Democrats have a superhuman ability to be useless) so after reading the transcript of this clip into the congressional record, a Republican senator tries to put together a personal attack on Greenwald himself. You can see the attempt here.
For greater stupid you have to go to the master, senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, who headed a committee on internet regulation and tried to explain how the internet works -- audio here.
